      Manager Interview

      Oct 5, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at BCG Platinion (New York, NY) in Apr 2016

      Interview

Extremely disorganized - I was interviewed by 7 folks at various levels from Managers to the lead of the practice. The process took 5 months - after the second or third interview, I kept hearing that there will only be one more round before the offer would be made. Towards the end I was exhausted and felt like I was just wasting my time and energy. Eventually with the last interview, I was told I would not be a good fit for something very basic and high-level on my resume that should have been seen right in the first round. Overall, what appealed to me was that they were associated with the BCG brand. However, they are not doing similar work as BCG (it pure implementations) and more crucially, they are still in infancy. Through the process, I got conflicting answers from the leadership on their growth plans which made me uncomfortable. My advice to anyone interviewing - get a clear understanding of the interview process upfront (i.e. how long, how many interviews, etc.) in order to not waste your time. Also, ask probing questions about their pipeline, growth plans and strategy in North America

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at BCG Platinion

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter, who guided me through the process. For the most part, the process was straightforward, but the company came across as unorganized and disrespectful. I went through a CV screen and a more informal chat with a recruiter as well afterwards about my experience. These were good and fine, and then moved forward to a Round 1 interview. First issue: BCG re-scheduled my R1 interview 6 different times. They even emailed me at ~4pm, asking if I could move my interview up to the following morning at 8am. I said no, and was able to interview further out. Secondly: On the day of my R1 interview, about an hour before the interview, they pushed it back a little bit and shortened it from 60min to 45min. Third: When the interviewer called into the interview, they were walking into an elevator. After being disconnected, they called again from the parking lot and conducted the entire interview, camera off, while driving. Fourth: The feedback I received reflected information that was inaccurate, which I had clarified multiple times with the interviewer (who was driving). I followed up in writing afterwards to clear up the confusion. Further, one glance at my resume would have cleared up my experience, or a chat with the recruiter who conducted the CV screen and verified my information.

Different steps with business case analysis, on topics more or less known to the candidate. Embarrassing the arrogance of the managers who do the interview, who give wrong answers to their own questions.
