I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BD (Santa Clara, CA) in Aug 2019
Interview
There was a 30 minute call with a recruiter to briefly discuss the role and the candidate background. A week later I had a follow up call with the hiring manager to discuss the role and background in more depth. It was mostly conversational. The hiring manager seemed really bored and as if he had no interest in filling the position. Could not tell if he already had an internal candidate and just had to go through the motions, or if that was just his personality. Did not get to the in-person stage.
The interview itself was okay, even though I was not shortlisted. However, the overall experience was really bad.
I reached the company 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled interview time, but no one attended to me. I was asked to wait at the security area for more than 30 minutes. Eventually, the recruiter texted me to inform me that the hiring manager was on medical leave.
They wanted to reschedule the interview first , but instead, another manager came down and conducted the interview after a total wait of 2 hours. I was really disappointed with the way the candidate experience was handled.
I followed up with the recruiter for an update, but there was no apology and they did not respond to my follow‑up message.

Interview
2 sets of interviews, 45 minutes each. Very friendly people, went in depth with my provided resume, asking questions about each experience. That was the bulk. More technical than cultural.
