Much like a prior review, my process was extremely long and drawn out. The process started Aug 8, nearly six weeks later I finally received the “you have a great personality but it’s not a match for us” call. Six weeks, nine interviews, yes nine interviews and the feedback I received is, “great personality, not a match for us, we feel like we need someone stronger”. Stronger in what area? Why wasn’t this weakness identified and called out after interview three or four? Why not ask for a proof of my work product?
It’s processes like this that damage a companies brand. Some companies fall in love with what they believe their ideal candidate should look like/possess, tunnel vision. In the role of Business Partner, knowledge of HR is 25% of the role. The other 75% comes from the BP being able to influence and lead change. It’s evident through multiple interviews that Bazaarvoice’s HR team is not held to high esteem. I believe it’s changing and getting better, but
they’re not viewed as trusted advisors. At least that’s the
sense I gained from nine interviews.
I thank BV for the opportunity, but in full transparency this process makes me feel like I dodged a bullet. Any time the hiring manager can text me regarding feedback from interviews, asking how I felt interviews went, etc… but then go silent once it’s time to advise me that she’s going a different direction. That’s disappointing and is not a reflection of the respect, dignity, and high culture that was discussed during the interview process.
I hope BV lands their home run hire and wish all the best of luck.
