      Sales Support Supervisor Interview

      Oct 7, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Albany, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Best Buy (Albany, NY) in Oct 2013

      Interview

Submitted resume and cover letter online. Note that cover letters are converted to plaintext in their online submission tools. I received a phone call two business days later from a manager with more details as to what the position involved and looking to schedule an interview. I was scheduled for the following day. It is not clear from the job posting, but the actual work this position does is direct supervision of back of house (warehouse) operations, training, coaching, and scheduling. There is little if any actual sales involved. I showed up 15 minutes early for the interview. I was advised at about the time the interview was to take place the managers were on a conference call and would be delayed. 25 minutes after the scheduled start I was taken to a back office through their break room. Said office was poorly lit, covered in metrics printouts, and shared space with a server rack. I was interviewed by two Sales Support Managers, one of whom had just been promoted into the position. The interview was completely stock questions, based off of a pre-printed guide to interviewing Best Buy uses for each position. It is entirely possible that my "interviewers" were nothing more than note-takers, recording my responses for later review by themselves or someone else. No secondary questions were asked based on any of my responses. My references were not contacted; in fact the online application does not even ask for references. After the scripted interview was complete I was asked if I had any questions for them. I asked a couple, then what the next steps were in the process. I was advised I would hear from them two days later with a decision either way. Four business days later I was notified by automated email that I was not selected for the position. I never received a followup phone call. Had the position been offered I can't say for certain I would have accepted it; their professionalism was lacking throughout the process and was a likely reflection on how the store operates in general.

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Best Buy (League City, TX) in Jun 2013

      Interview

The interview process consisted of an online application, online assessment test, and a face-to-face interview with management, sans store general manager. Follow up would have been and interview with the general manager, but I did not make it that far.
