I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at BetterUp (Amsterdam) in Jul 2024
Interview
After I applied for the position, I received a message asking me to choose a date/time for an intake interview. After doing so, they rescheduled the interview several times. After 4 weeks postponing the interview, I finally did it and was approved. They said they would send me the options for an on-line technical interview. This took another 6 weeks, during this time I was completely ignored. Obviously, when they got in touch with the dates for the interview I decided to cancel the process. A company that has no respect for the candidate should obviously treat its employees the same way or worse, since it is in their interest to have employees, but once they hire, that interest ends.
AWFUL - avoid at all costs. I was completely ghosted after the 2nd round of interviews for a Senior Software Engineer role. I reached out several times to different people - no response. Digging online, it looks like their HR/recruiting/marketing went through a wave of layoffs. They also removed the position I had originally applied for so I wasn't able to try and "re-apply". I understand layoffs are really hard, but it seems there was 0 consideration for anyone in the pipeline and they were left out to dry.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at BetterUp
Interview
Intro call, two technical screens, a feature addition to an existing project, and a panel interview.
I was having engaging conversations rather than being grilled on technical minutiae or getting rapid fire questions. While there was definitely opportunity to showcase my technical skills, it became clear very quickly that there was a heavy focus on behavior and mindset. BetterUp is a company that really cares about not only hiring competent engineers, but also making sure that the values of its employees line up with its mission.
