Interview
I was referred for a Product Delivery Manager (PDM) role at Bloomberg. After the initial resume review, I clarified my product experience with the recruiter, which I appreciated. However, beyond an initial discussion on compensation and process, there was limited communication and no guidance on interview expectations or preparation.
Due to the lack of direction, I relied primarily on publicly available resources (such as Glassdoor) to prepare, which did not fully align with the actual interview focus.
Additionally, Bloomberg does not share information about the interviewer in advance, which made it difficult to prepare effectively. I approached the interview expecting a strong focus on product thinking, strategy, and business outcomes.
However, the interview was primarily centered around Scrum and project management fundamentals, with limited discussion on product-related aspects. It also felt like there was a gap in seniority alignment between the role expectations and the level of the interview conversation. As a candidate with 13+ years of experience leading complex programs, I was expecting a more in-depth and balanced discussion.
Overall, the process could benefit from better alignment between role expectations, interview focus, and interviewer context. Providing clearer guidance upfront would help candidates prepare more effectively and create a more meaningful evaluation experience.
