Difficult interview
Application
I applied online. I interviewed at Blue Origin
Interview
Started with a call from the recruiter asking for salary expectations, if work location is acceptable, basically finding out if you are a fit for the role and if you are interested. After that came a 30 minute to an hour phone call with the hiring manager for more specific questions and could be technical in nature. In the final round you have to write an essay of the topic they will provide (I believe it is always freeform so no constraints) and prepare a presentation about your background plus some projects you have worked on that would be relevant to the position. Then present to a panel of your future peers, hiring manager, and an additional Blue Origin employee that is not part of the team (to maintain a fair and objective interview). Took about half an hour for talking with each person so be prepared for a long morning/afternoon. Questions would range from topics relevant to the position, further interest/curiosity in the presentation, behavioral or technical. Everything was virtual and through Microsoft Teams.
1. Started with a short call with a recruiter making sure information is correct and why I want to work at Blue Origin. 2. 30 minute call with hiring manager reading through my resume. Was told the next stage is panel interview but was not. 3. 1 hour call with an engineer going through my resume and asking technical questions about my experience. Also said next stage is the panel interview, but I was rejected.
