I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Booz Allen Hamilton (McLean, VA) in Sep 2011
Interview
Phone interview with HR point of contact that was overly general and elementary and reinforced the fact that the person had not read my CV - nor did they understand first hand what the skill set was for the role that I was applying for. Second touch point was a timed writing assessment for which I never heard any feedback on, so I'm not sure why that was a requirement. Third step was filling out an e-application for which they had incorrectly logged my email into the system and therefore we had continuous issues with getting the app accepted. Fourth step was a group interview session which was interesting, if you like interviewing (which I do). However - it wasn't really explained well in terms of the logic behind it to the group and a lot of other candidates that were there were clearly confused. Two weeks after that step - I received a call from the HR person to check in to get my feedback and to say that they would be back in touch with me within a week. Three weeks pass with me doing a lot of calling and status checks. I then had another group interview (with a smaller set of people) where I was informally told that I was good to go/in - but then nothing. I finally get a call back after leaving many follow-up voicemails/emails from HR who said that they were showing my resume around to other groups, as well as going to check in with the group that I had originally applied to and would call within a day or so. Another week passes - more emails from my side - and finally I get a call back from the same HR person who said that "after careful consideration - my skill set did not match what they had available at that time, but that I should feel free to apply to other positions there that I might be interested in... " Huh?
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you go about developing a group strategy?
The interview process was fairly simple, they went through my resume and the interview questions were behavior based. I think if you prepare you’ll be fine. The panel that I interviewed with was straight to the point. However with all of the changes they are doing mass layoffs so be aware before accepting a role

More behavioral based questions if you know you’re resume you’ll be fine
Talked to recruiter and the hiring manager afterwards. Was straight forward. Not too many steps that made it complicated. Talked to another a separate recruiter with offer. Discussed background check and such. Background check can take up to 10 days

Interview
Interview was professional. Was given and overview of the job position, and was asked interview questions for the position. I was also asked about what interests me in the position and company as a whole.
