After applying on-line, I heard from a recruiter two weeks later who requested a phone screening. Phone screening went well. Recruiter contacted me again three days later via e-mail asking for clarification about my SharePoint experience. I responded with a nice paragraph of clarification about my SharePoint skills. He/she responded with a request for my availability to meet with the hiring manager via MS Teams. Invitation with hiring manager was set for three days later. The day after the interview with the hiring manager, I emailed the recruiter to notify him/her that I felt the interview went well and that I really felt that I would be a good candidate for the position. Five days later, I received an email from the recruiter stating that the hiring manager had decided to "pursue alternative candidates". That was the first time I had ever heard that phrase before..."alternative candidates". I was perplexed because the reason had nothing to do with my qualifications or the lack thereof. I responded by thanking the recruiter and posing the question, "since I met the qualifications that were being sought, would you please share why the hiring manager has decided to look for other candidates?" I received no reply from the recruiter. I would not recommend Booz Allen Hamilton to anyone of color. I felt that phrase "alternative candidates" was racist and unprofessional.
