I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but my interview experience with Braze was disappointing enough that I feel it’s important to share.
To be clear, Braze has an impressive product, and every person I interviewed with over several months for a CSM role was kind, approachable, and engaging. However, one of Braze’s core values is “Be Human,” and the company fell significantly short of that in how they handled my candidacy.
After completing a rigorous process, including a panel presentation and final senior interviews, I faced weeks of missed HR deadlines and minimal communication. I was entirely transparent with recruiters that I had a competing offer and needed clarity. Eventually, I was given a verbal offer, including a detailed breakdown of salary, benefits, and start dates, and was told the contract was just pending routine internal approvals.
Based on this explicit verbal offer, I made the difficult decision to decline my other opportunity.
Over the next three weeks, communication was incredibly scarce, and I had to actively chase updates. Finally, three weeks after my verbal offer, I received a call informing me that hiring plans had changed and the role was being eliminated.
The shock was immense. I was left without either position because of irresponsible handling and a complete lack of transparency. I soon learnt that they decided to promote internally. I share this not out of bitterness, but in the sincere hope that Braze treats future candidates with the care and communication they preach.
