      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Brookfield in Aug 2025

      Interview

Pros: • Everyone I spoke to was smart, professional, and engaged. • The case study process was intellectually stimulating and well-structured. • Strong technical conversations. Cons: • The process involved 7 rounds over 2+ months, including detailed prep work, yet the feedback was vague and centered on “fit” rather than capability. • Concerns about “cultural and role fit” were only raised at the end, which could have been surfaced much earlier. • Disappointing to see the role reposted afterward with no material changes, suggesting a lack of internal clarity on expectations. Advice to Management: • Be clearer up front about the true scope, seniority, and team expectations for leadership roles. • Streamline your interview processes. • Consider being more transparent and timely in your communication post-final round, especially after significant candidate investment.

I interviewed at Brookfield (Toronto, ON)

      Interview

This interview was done via external recruiter to assess fit. I suspect it's difficult for the company to find people who want to work for them. The points that were made were you have to be in the office 5 days a week. For WLB, the explanation was "precovid, the company had WLB." Whatever that means. For salary, I don't think they're competitive with the Toronto market. Director TC ~ $210k. If you are an engineer in tech you can make that below director level. If you work at a bank, it's comparable salary but with WLB, plus WFH. Sorry Brookfield, you cannot go back in time to 2019. Nickle and diming salaries will cost you more from losses due to operational risk.
