Interview
CBRE Commercial Real Estate Graduate Assessment Centre - Bristol
Arrived 9:45am for a 10am start.
The CBRE team held an intro session talking about CBRE's values and what work the two streams at the Assessment Centre do, They then showed us some videos of what current grads (which they call the Next Gen Cohort) thought of the job and life at CBRE.
Short 15 minute break, then at about 11am, started the first group exercise: "As a group, please decide on a sector (Retail, Offices, Logistics, Living), and create a presentation (~10 minutes long) on where you think the industry will be in 5 years' time." We were given 6 research resources in the form of various articles to read on our phones to conduct our research, before discussing our ideas as a group and then presenting back to the interviewers. Time management was down to us. Lasted about an hour including the presentation and questions at the end.
Short 15 minute break, then into the second group exercise at about 12:30: "Smart Building Retrofit Challenge." Time management was set by the interviewers: 15 minutes Individual Preparation, 30 minutes Team Meeting, 10 minutes Team Presentation, 5 minutes Q&A. We were given some background information about a multi-use building, facing challenges, and a list of potential retrofit options and budget. We had to discuss as a team which options we thought would be best to put forward and next steps for implementing our suggestions.
Then had a quick office tour, followed by a very short Q&A session with the current grads, in which only 3 people asked any questions. Ended early at about 2:15pm. Lunch was not provided.
