      Targeting Officer Interview

      Apr 25, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at CIA in Sep 2018

      Interview

The application process is a long and meticulous one, and interviews are similar in nature. Expect anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for a phone interview if you reach that level, as that is likely the first stage of interviews you'll receive. You'll be asked about personal motivations, knowledge in foreign affairs and global politics, and how you understand the job description. Carefully review the job description of the position you are applying for and prepare responses for how your skills and experience match what they want.

      Targeting Officer Interview

      Aug 8, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Washington, DC
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at CIA (Washington, DC) in May 2013

      Interview

Very long. Exactly one year from when I applied to when I received letter rescinding my offer (I was offered a position, went through background investigation polygraph etc.) then my offer was rescinded with no explanation. I am now going through the very difficult process of getting my file under FOIA because apparently I had received a "negative adjudication." Something that I was NEVER EVER INFORMED OF by the CIA. I was informed that I had not failed my background investigation via their official response. I was only informed of this statement when a defense contractor I was hired by tried to run my security clearance this year. Well I they couldn't, so I did not get the job. Applying to the CIA was my dream job. I was over the moon when I received my offer. Now it is my nightmare! Three years later and I am still fighting. Five months of processing my file request and I finally received a response saying they will have my records for me...in May 2017! Over a year after I submitted a request under FOIA. Applying to the CIA was the WORST decision of my life! Don't do it!!! For those of you still wanting to, here is my timeline: October 2012 applied online November 2012 first phone interview December 2012 filled out packet of information, resume, essays etc. March 2013 first face to face interview May 2013 second face to face interview, and psych interview May 2013 offer of employment August 2013 polygraph, psych interview etc. November 2013 letter rescinding offer There is no point trying to call anyone to get answers about why your offer got rescinded, you will have a different contact every single time. I called to get answers from three different people I had numbers from, they all just said they "didn't know," and to "try again in a year."
