Hey, thank you for taking time to provide feedback on the hiring process at Canvas! We are thorough in our recruiting work as we are a financial institution with a responsibility to do what's right by our members. Although we do have a background check, its not quite as extensive as it used to be. We want everyone who goes through the hiring process at Canvas to have the best recruiting experience ever! While it’s great to hear yours was a positive experience, we will continue to work on providing the best candidate journey possible! Thank you for the gift of feedback!

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Canvas Credit Union

      Interview

I got in touch with a recruiter via a brief 1 on 1 interview through my university. I was then put in touch with another recruiter where I had a basic phone interview going over my qualifications and such. The last interview I had was a zoom meeting with two local managers who read me a series of 10 very generaleralized questions about my abilities and ethics at work. You are expected to give incredibly specific answers back. I did not get the job, which was disappointing, but emailed my recruiter asking for feedback or if I could reapply and never got a response back. Frankly for a position that pays $17 per hour starting, Canvas is a bit too picky about who they hire and should consider refining their interview process so that it feels more like a natural concersation and less like a sheet of questions that branch managers are required to ask.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from recent applicants and discover ways to make the process better. We do encourage candidates interviewing for branch positions to provide specific answers on how they’ve handled customer and employee issues in the past. Our overall aim during the interview and hiring process is to ensure a mutual fit for Canvas and the jobseeker alike. It is disappointing to hear you requested feedback post-interview and did not hear back. That is on us as a Talent team – we’ve discussed this feedback and are using it to improve the candidate experience going forward. We have also passed along your comments on the interview with the two branch managers as we are in agreement – we don’t want the interview process to be an interrogation or uncomfortable because that’s not who we are at Canvas. We are fun, delightfully offbeat, and serious about treating everyone with the utmost respect, whether it’s members, family members, or job applicants. Thank you for the gift of feedback. We will use it to be better. Best of luck in your job search. Canvas Talent Team
