I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CarGurus (Boston, MA) in Dec 2021
Interview
After a brief 20 min recruiter phone call, I was invited for a zoom technical interview. The interview consisted of 3 rounds of 45 minutes each with different engineers from the team I am supposed to join.
I was nervous at first, but the engineers were all nice and welcoming. Each interview started with a small enjoyable conversation about the job, nothing felt rushed. The first problem was an algorithmic question concerning the addition of two polynomials. The two other rounds were much more interesting. The problems were actual challenges that the company was working on; I enjoyed this part thoroughly since the solving process felt more like a conversation than an exam and the problems made me interested in joining the company even more
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1 - Polynomial addition
2 - Nearest k dealerships based on latitude and longitude
3 - Moving a car using an instruction set of F (Forward) and R (Reverse). F double the velocity of the car after every step and R reverses the car's direction and sets the velocity to 1.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at CarGurus (Cambridge, MA) in Nov 2023
Interview
I had a phone screen with the recruiter, followed by two back-to-back interview rounds. The first was with the hiring manager to discuss my experience and fit for the role. The second was a technical interview with a software engineer, where I was asked to solve an array manipulation problem. Both interviews were challenging and focused on assessing my problem-solving abilities and alignment with the team's needs.
