CarGurus Sr. Software Engineer interview questions

The process started with the usual recruiter phone call. Next was a technical 1h phone screen which included some live coding of simple SQL queries and algorithmic questions. Then four hours of onsite interviews plus a surprise half-hour lunch with four random engineers. The onsite interviews felt a bit like Groundhog Day, going over the same concepts over and over again. In 3 out of 4 interviews I was asked to write SQL queries, then implement some algorithm problem. In the other one, only algorithm questions. We never discussed in depth any of my past projects. We never had a system design question. Not much technical discussion either. Not sure if it's their usual way of interviewing or just lack of coordination, but it all seemed pretty one-dimensional, especially for a more senior position. The positive note is that they try to come up with questions based on real world problems they have faced, so you get a glimpse of the kind of things they do.
