I had an initial interview with the recruiter who I immediately liked. Then moved on to the Vp who was the hiring manager. Afterward I was asked to travel to SAn Antonio to meet the team who were all great. I interviewed with the CEO which was a unique but great professional opportunity for me. The VP took me to lunch and showed me around downtown and it was a pleasant day. I felt like the day went well and knew they wanted to hire fairly quickly.
Almost a month went by with only one email from the recruiter (after I reached out) asking for an update or timeline. After that timeline passed and another week went by, I emailed again and was ignored. I finally decided to email the VP directly after another week and ask, assuming I hadn't gotten the job. I was told they hired someone else with more healthcare experience.
I totally understand if I wasn't the right candidate or best fit, or lost to someone with the more experience, but it's incredibly inconsiderate and unprofessional when someone gave up a day and a half of vacation to come spend time for an interview only to completely ignore them and not reply to say they went with someone else, except for me following up almost a month later. I can handle rejection, but I shouldn't have to be the one inquiring several weeks after.
