I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Caterpillar (College Station, TX) in Jan 2017
Interview
Interview was mostly based on my ability to tell relevant stories. It was imperative to tell my stories in the S.T.A.R. format, which seemed rigid and an unnecessary way of grading a person on their competency. I had good conversation with the interviewers, built rapport, but in the end it didn't matter because my storytelling ability wasn't up to par.

I applied online. I interviewed at Caterpillar in Jan 2026
Interview
1 hour with 2 interviewers. There were about 5-6 questions, and you MUST follow the STAR method. They seemed to be taking extensive notes between each question. They also said if I didn't like the question that I could ask for an alternative question as the questions were meant to learn a specific trait about me.
