I am deeply frustrated with the entire hiring process, as it has left me feeling deceived and taken advantage of. Upon applying for a position, I invested considerable time and effort into completing a rigorous take-home coding project and successfully navigating three rounds of interviews with an engineer, IT manager, and project manager. The recruiter subsequently assured me that the interviews went well. However, I was later informed that the position was put on hold due to an internal change in their HR department. This news came after an agonizing four-week wait. Eventually, the company reached out to inform me that they had decided to hire an individual with a specific pharmaceutical background, which was disappointing but understandable. They then presented me with an alternative opportunity within a different department that aligned with my skill set. I agreed to pursue this new position, initiating an entirely new process. After initial discussions with the hiring manager, I was once again informed that the interview had gone well. I eagerly anticipated the next round, only to be subjected to yet another delay of three weeks. Finally, on a Friday afternoon, they notified me that the hiring team had identified an internal candidate. Throughout this arduous 11-week ordeal, I patiently cooperated with their HR team and the hiring team, only to encounter a series of setbacks: The hiring process was put on hold due to an internal change within the HR department, and I was asked to wait. The hiring requirements were altered after I had completed the entire interview process. The hiring team ultimately discovered an internal candidate, leading to the abrupt end of my candidacy. While I understand the challenges involved in finding the right fit for a company, I firmly believe that it is crucial for an organization to establish a clear vision of the position they wish to fill and the qualifications they seek in a candidate before embarking on the interview process. It is unacceptable to squander a candidate's time and effort on two separate occasions. As a professional, I am extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism and consideration demonstrated by the company. I strongly urge companies to prioritize respect for candidates and to conduct their hiring processes with integrity and efficiency. It is essential to communicate transparently and make informed decisions to avoid wasting the time and effort of qualified applicants. In conclusion, I would like to highlight that while the company's technology and business model are undoubtedly appealing, and the managers I interacted with displayed a high level of professionalism, I must express my profound frustration with the overall hiring process. Despite the recruiters' polite and professional communication, the prolonged and inconsistent nature of the process has left me exasperated.
