My interviewing experience with ChenMed was both unprofessional and odd. I applied for an HR position for which I was a viable candidate (I’ve worked in healthcare HR for 15 years). I interviewed with an internal recruiter, which went well. At the closing of the interview, the recruiter stated that she wanted to forward me on the hiring manager & scheduled a Zoom interview the following day at 4 pm.
The subsequent day I prepared for the interview. 35 minutes prior to the interview, I received an apologetic text from the hiring manager stating he was delayed in meetings and asked if we could do a non-video call instead at 4:30. I replied that was no problem. I received another text around 4:30 asking if he could call me after 5. I responded that was fine & that I was available. At 8:50 PM I received a text message stating he got stuck with a project but was available the next day. I replied that I understood and explained that I was unavailable the next day (Thurs) due to my son having dental work scheduled but was available on Fri. I got no response from him.
I texted the hiring manager back on Friday afternoon to attempt to reconnect. He said he would like to connect & inquired if Mon. or Tues. would work. I replied that either would. Once again, I heard nothing further from him on Mon or Tues.
After hearing nothing else from ChenMed, I circled back with the recruiter on Weds. I didn't get an immediate response. When I did speak with her, I explained what had transpired. She had not been made aware of anything. I explained that I thought I was a viable candidate, but obviously didn't want to belabor matters and inconvenience anyone if the interest was no longer mutual. I have other opportunities to explore.
