I applied through college or university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Chevron (Covington, LA) in Oct 2008
Interview
Initial interview consisted of personal introduction following company presentation on campus. Afterwards interviews were determined based on personal introduction. Interview consisted of two one on one interviews. Questions ranged from general situational questions to off the wall questions to see how a person would react.
Throughout the internship, people were continuously approaching interns and interacting as if you were in a ten week interview.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Why were you not the first person to sign up for an interview?
3 rounds, 2-3 interviews each round. Blend of finance, accounting, and Commercial acumen. Will ask you standard behavioral questions as well. “Tell me about a time…”
No trick questions; pretty straightforward.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Chevron (Houston, TX)
Interview
Started with a building tour of the downtown Houston location after checking in with security. Did not have to wait long to meet with liaison.
A large room full of people. Largest panel for an interview I've ever encountered. At least 8 people which was very intimidating.
Discussed my experience and resume first. People took notes. Then the first panel speaker presented a work scenario. Others chimed in to clarify the scenario and but it was hard to categorize the scenario in order to answer.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Presented a work scenario and asked what steps I would take to resolve.
The first interview was a phone interview. 2 weeks later, I went in for in-person interview. Questions were straightforward: behavioral, systems I had used previously, career walkthrough, hobbies etc.
