      Field Test Engineer Interview

      Nov 2, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Rich, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Chevron (Rich, CA)

      Interview

(Oronite) - I applied on-line and received an invite to interview on campus. The structure was a panel with two folks in person and two over a poor-quality speakerphone in a conference room; an arrangement not to my liking. The questions were of the behavioral type and randomly presented by each interviewer; I was advised that candidate selection is based on the highest score and I needed to answer in a specific manner. I attempted to show interest before and after with several related subject-matter questions, but apparently these inquiries were not considered much in terms of my candidacy. I sent personalized thank-you letters to each interviewer, which likewise made no difference. Ultimately, I received an insincere form rejection letter a few weeks later after following up, which although expected made me feel slighted and disrespected. The company could be fairer to candidates by using Microsoft Teams to conduct at least the first panel interview, especially considering that their interviewers may not be physically present.
