      Network Engineer Interview

      Mar 19, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Citadel (Chicago, IL) in Mar 2015

      Interview

Was invited to super day. Alot of 2 on 1 interviews with engineers. You sit in a conference room and they rotate people in and out to interview you. I enjoyed it but I can see how some would not like it at all. ALOT of technical questions. Make sure you brush up. The interview was a very good experience overall. The interviewers were very smart and very nice people.

      Network Engineer Interview

      Aug 25, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Citadel in Aug 2020

      Interview

The role from the recruiter was described as needing a highly technical network engineer who has the ability to communicate and interact with executive/C level team members. I was setup with a discussion with the Chief Architect but no mention on what type of interview/discussion was to be focused on. It was a 45 minute interview with 5 minutes of it at the end for questions from me and the first 10-15 minutes of the interviewer introducing himself and describing the role. The 30 minute section left of the discussion involved basically one question/request "Provide an example of something that you are proud of in your current role". As the role necessitates a technical mind that also has the soft skills needed to interact with execs I thought to provide the open & vague request an example that covers all of this. I highlighted an example that required technical knowledge, showcased cross-team functionality & coordination, and the ability to navigate a contentious situation with an executive team. I received feedback from the recruiter that I may not be as technical now as I have been in previous roles based on the conversation. Needless to say, there was no scope given for the interview nor any technical questions asked to me to make such an assessment. Given the feedback + the lack of structure to the interview process I do see this as a red flag and hope they can bring a more structure to this process in the future.
