1st interview is over the phone, and if it goes well, then a 2nd interview in person at the office is offered, which I received. I arrived about 20 minutes early, and was gathered into a group for a short briefing from an HR Generalist with other candidates. You're then called into an office where you interview with two managers. Then, you're escorted out onto the sales floor with an introduction to a team leader in the department in which you are applying for a position. That person will give you a very brief overview of the data systems, and then ask you to perform a simple Excel exercise on the computer. Then you'll be asked to field a mock phone call, and provide them with answers to their inquiries from the data that you were just shown by the team leader. Then you're escorted back to the interview with the two managers for some final remarks. Initially, I felt that I made a good impression, but then in the final remarks, it felt as if the interviewing managers were asking me questions king of unrelated to my skills, such as, "are you sure that you'll be ok sitting down for work all day?," and "I just don't understand why you'd want to have a different career after such a successful first career?" It felt to me as if they were just looking for a reason to disqualify me. On my way out I couldn't help but notice the lack of age diversity present, and wondered if I had possibly just experienced age discrimination during my interview.
