This company is in the enterprise storage space and wanted to start going after the big boy acccounts where their competitors like EMC dominate. The company is made up of many ex-EMC folks and the hiring manager said they were now looking to bring in someone with experience managing a team of sales professionals focused on large, fortune 1000 accounts. They wanted somone with large ERP enterprise selling background so I would be perfect. I went through a phone interview and then two on site interviews (first with the HR hiring manager and then later with the VP doing the hiring). I was pretty happy with the positoin of the company, their technology and where they were headed.
Then they went dark, dragged next steps out some and a few weeks later I was told another EMC employee would be taking the position. Someone that others there already knew and vouched for, etc., how could they make any other decision.
I was most dissapointed since I had asked several questions upfront about why are they not just bringing in another EMC type person since they have to be well networked. I was told with certainty that they absolutely did not want another EMC person, they wanted an enterprise software solution veteran. I guess a lot changed in 60-90 days.
