I applied online. I interviewed at Cummins (Columbus, IN) in Sep 2022
Interview
Zoom call during lunch, so I had to drive home to be able to talk freely. Logged on, tested the speakers and mic, then I was asked to turn on the web cam, and in return I asked the interviewer the same - he said no because he was "using three displays" - a bogus response. So it felt like an interrogation that way - like I was a criminal. Then the guy makes a remark that for the next interview I "must wear a shirt and a tie" to look professional. My work is hands on - I work with motors, robots, laser markers, conveyors, I get grease, dust, coolant all over me - my attire are dickies pants and work boots. These boomer mentality in big companies needs to go away.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Cummins (Columbus, IN) in Oct 2017
Interview
I was contacted by internal recruiter who then asked me to applied the job online. After that I got a about 30-min phone interview by the hiring manager, which is mainly about walking through my resume and discussing about relevant experience and skills.
After several weeks, they scheduled an on-site interview for me, which took about half day. There were several rounds for the on-site interview, different group of people interviewed me, so I did self introduction and worked through my resume several times. The questions being asked are pretty much like half technical and half behavior. Technical questions includes: (1) Do you know how diesel engine control system work? (2) Tell me a control feature you have designed. (3) How OBD works?
Behavior questions include: (1) Do you have any challenge/difficulty in work and how do you behave? (2) Do you have conflict with colleagues? How did you solve it? (3) Why do you want to work for Cummins?
The interview is pretty smooth. One week after the interview, I got the offer.
