A member of the company's personnel department, located in Oregon, called me to set up an interview in Dallas, Texas. Accordingly, I went to the downtown office at the appointed time. No receptionist was there. Large numbers of people were milling about, going to various rooms, I can only assume. I waited for 15 minutes or more and still no receptionist. Then suddenly a man came through and asked if I had been helped. I told him why I was here and thereupon, he disappeared to the back of the office, I can only guess. Then, another gentleman came out, introduced himself, and led me into a room for the interview. I am 71 years old, what follows is rather baffling. This has got to be one of strangest interviews that I have endured! He did not have my resume, so I provided him one--which surprises me because I would think that he would want to go over my work history with me in person. The whole interview lasted maybe 15 minutes, very peremptorily, as if he were saying, "Why are you here of all people"? Well, the position involved setting appointments with people in order to sell products of the company and also to re-excite those who for whatever reason were not interested in pursuing any upgrades at the time of the initial appointment. I have at least 15 years experience in setting appointments with decision makers! I received an email later saying that other candidates had been chosen. WHAT!!! After the interview was "concluded", leaving, I glanced over my shoulder and saw him throwing the resume into the trash.
