I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Databricks in Feb 2018
Interview
I was contacted by Hiring Manager over LinkedIn. Telephonic call with Hiring Manager – general discussion about role, work routine and what is expected out of this role on high level (they are looking for highly technical talent with great communication skills that could represent DataBricks at client end – You basically work virtual and visit client location with around 30% travel per Month) and then general questions about my work experience and past projects. At the end Hiring Manager did as couple of Technical questions (some question on spark architecture) to make sure candidate has potential for next round.
Then HR contacted me for take home assignment – its pretty exhaustive assignment – it covers everything from data transformation to ML. I completed that assignment in 2 days of time and was pretty confidant on solution as well – surprisingly I couldn’t crack it down. After requesting a feedback call – I got to know that output was good enough however my write-up and communication on solution was not up to their expectations, I had made spelling mistakes as well. They didn’t find it good as this role is expected to represent DataBricks.
Make sure to emphasis on your presentation and solution communication aspect – and not just technical stuff. Good luck.

Question 1
Spark Cluster Architecture, Everything on spark from simple data transformation to ML
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Databricks (London, England) in Oct 2025
Interview
Clear structure as far as stages are concerned. Although I have not had strict Databricks/Spark experience I was approached by the Databricks recruiter, was given the opportunity to go ahead with the interview and passed the technical stages, was told i did not do as well at project and Architecture SME stage, with very superficial verbal feedback, no written feedback was provided.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Databricks in Sep 2025
Interview
Rejected in last round as they found a cheaper candidate. No concrete feedback shared yet. There were many rounds to prepare a candidate but then there is no proper feedback which help you get an offer.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Databricks (London, England) in Jun 2025
Interview
The process consisted of six rounds over nearly two months, including:
• A take-home technical coding assignment
• Technical deep dive (Spark, cloud, architecture)
• Project delivery discussion
• Architecture & SME panel
• Executive round
• (Supposed) Hiring Manager wrap-up
Each round was structured and relevant to the role. I appreciated the depth and the quality of questions, and the interviewers were professional and respectful throughout.
Unfortunately, after progressing through all six rounds — and investing significant time and effort (even during my paternity leave) — I received a generic rejection email stating that I was “not selected due to technical reasons.” There was no opportunity to receive feedback, nor was the final wrap-up interview (as outlined in their own interview guide) conducted.
If technical fit was a concern, it’s unclear why the process proceeded through so many late-stage interviews. It felt like a poor use of candidate time, with no closure, despite the heavy investment on both sides.
