I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Databricks (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2023
Interview
I applied through an employee referral in February. About 3 weeks later I finally heard back from a recruiter to set up a screening call. Basic questions, but the recruiter was one of the most robotic and unenthusiastic people I ever spoke to in my career. Anyway, I got past that screen and she told me they would get back to me about my candidacy. I followed up each week for a few weeks with no real movement. The recruiter basically forgot about me but did not reject me and told me they would get to it soon. At the end of March she asked me if there are any deadlines to be aware of, and I let her know that I had a few offers potentially coming in early April. Eventually I got a job offer at another company and started working there. The recruiter got back to me near the end of April to talk about the opportunity further, so I provided ample times (I figured I'd tell her on the phone I took another offer). I didn't hear back for a whole week, and then suddenly got an auto-rejection from their Greenhouse app. What a broken and dumb interview process. Also their recruiters, if they are anything like my recruiter, don't give a crap about candidates.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why did you leave your prior job? Why did you leave the job before that? And the job before that? (Honestly, they seemed more interested in why I left all of my jobs than talking about the actual opportunity).
I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter for an initial call. My background and experience were not aligned with the role, so we did not proceed to the next round.
Unfortunately, the interview experience was not very positive. The recruiter was late to the scheduled call, and the communication style felt somewhat one-sided and pushy rather than collaborative. I would have appreciated a more balanced and respectful conversation.
Multiple rounds of interview , take home assessment was not very tough . But panel presentation round was tough , it seems they want candidate who can wow them even though all rounds went fine .
I go the first phone call which went pretty well. Then I passed a first panel round on simple architecture. Did first round technical round, but never heard back again.
