Started with an HR phone screen and then a Hiring Manager phone screen and coding test for position. Was then encouraged by Hiring Manager to go into the Senior position pipeline due to over qualification, I expressed my willingness to finish the non-senior pipeline and was told not to worry and that any work I did for the senior pipeline would also be considered for the non-senior role should I not be accepted for the senior role. Despite my hesitation due to having made the final round of the senior role before and not being offered due to lack of sales experience on my resume, I advanced to the senior level panel presentation and ultimately was not offered the role. Feedback being "You may be one of the best candidates for a role like this but we just have high level applicants with more traditional sales experience", totally fair and pretty unsurprising. Instead of using the recording of my presentation for the senior role I was asked to put together another presentation on a new topic for a panel in 2 days, when I had 7 days to create and improve my senior level presentation while working with the senior hiring manager on my slide deck over those 7 days. I got a 15 minute meeting with another hiring manager to go over the new slides and the only feedback i was offered 'looks great', in the end I was not offered the non-senior role as well.
TLDR: In the span of 2.5 weeks I was asked to do 6 phone/zoom interviews, 2 30-45 minute presentations (on myself, and on databricks lakehouse selling points), and 2 SQL Coding tests (about 1-2 hours a piece) all of which the Hiring Manager assured me the whole time went as well as could go. Did I mention those 2.5 weeks were 12/18/2025 - 12/30/2025? There's rigorous interview processes and then there's lack of respect for someone's time. Everyone I spoke to was very nice but I was pretty shocked by the amount of duplicate work I was expected to do especially over the holiday break.
