I saw a post in a facebook group about a remote data entry job. I messaged just to see what was up and was directed to download Telegram for the interview. It was an entirely text message based interview. They did not give me an actual application or website or anything. Some guy introduced himself by listing a bunch of college degrees. Asked me really basic questions that were punctuated and capitalized all wrong, giving me the feeling that it may have been a bot. After like 8 minutes of texting, I was offered the job and asked to send over personal information through the chat on Telegram. I expressed that I was hesitant to send personal info through an anonymous messaging app to someone that I don't know without at least seeing a job posting/application, company website with information, etc.
He offered to use Wire Secure instead of Telegram which was dumb because that's just another anonymous messaging app - exactly what I just said I didn't want to use.
I then received a message that said, "This is a complete 100% legit job".
I responded, apologizing for being cautious, explaining that I've encountered scammers before, and asked if I could review the job paperwork that they were supposedly sending before submitting my driver's license/SSN/etc. I never got another response.
