      Strategy and Operations Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at DoorDash (New York, NY) in Dec 2020

      Interview

I applied online to DoorDash end of October. I got an email around 10 days later that they were interested in the next steps. Intro Call: The first step was a 15 min interview with the hiring manager where they evaluate the background and fit. On this call I was told I will receive a Data analysis test which I needed to complete in 48 hours. Analysis Test: They send you one month of data dump with three part open ended questions - give insights to improve product, formulate a hypothesis, implementation at DoorDash. You need to document it in any way you like. This took up a lot of time! Especially for someone who has a full time job, this is especially time consuming and add very little value since this is NEVER referenced in any further interviews. I invested at least a good 20 hours on this. First round of Virtual interviews: About 5 days after my submission of the analytical test, I got called on for in person interview with two members of the team. I reached out to the recruiter to guide me through the process. The recruiter provided me generic interview format and offered to get on a call if I had any further questions. I followed up some questions, but the recruiter never responded to me (till date hasn't). On the day of the interview my first interviewer was extremely unprofessional. She was just disinterested. She was constantly multitasking. She would ask me a question and then continue to multitask. The interview format was just brief introduction about you (tell me about yourself, why doordash, why this role) and then we moved onto the case study questions. My second interviewer was really very nice. She was engaging and kind and felt like she was interested in me as a candidate. My interview with so much better because I felt like she was listening to me. Same format- intro, case study questions Next steps: I did not hear back from DoorDash for over 3 weeks. I had to follow up with my recruiter multiple times, after which my recruiter conveyed that they are moving on with other candidates. Feedback: This is an extremely intense process where you invest 20-40 hours easily. If you make it, I guess it is worth it. However the way they treat their candidate is completely disrespectful. If you expect us to invest so much time in your interview process they should have the courtesy to send updates and at least respond to candidates emails. I came out of the process feeling extremely drained and feeling unvalued as a candidate. Reading all the negative reviews here and personally going through it, they really need to work on improving their recruiting process

      Question 1

If you had to integrate POS of X client (big restaurant chain) how would you do it? If you see a merchant complaining about POS errors, what would you do? How would you handle POS errors and use data to make conclusions?

First round is with the recruiter, then you are given a take home test which revolves around analyzing data. If you pass, you are then moved onto the next round with the hiring manager and senior manager. They don't provide feedback on interviews.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at DoorDash (New York, NY) in Oct 2025

      Interview

Recruiter reached out about a role I had applied to, said that she will push my profile to a different S&O role as this one was already quite ahead in the process for a few candidates. Sent a take home exercise and then ghosted me. Another recruiter reached out after I applied to a different job through a referral, said that since I had done a take home recently, I won’t have to do it again and will talk to the team to use that as a proxy and then ghosted again.
