The interview was made up of 3 rounds. The first round was a casual meeting with someone from the Team Leadership, where I got an introduction to the Company in general and their team in specific. After talking about my own experience, we discussed possible roles that would fit my profile.
The second round was a technical interview with a Director of Software Development. After a short introduction by both parties, I answered around 5 technical questions that were all based on my resume. It didn't really feel like a typical interview and more like a chat, and still it was really thorough. The second round ended with a direct feedback, giving me a feeling for "how i did", and some more roles that could fit.
The third round was with 2 representatives of a potential team, another round of introduction and more technical questions, based on my role if I were to join the team. Lastly, I got a code example in which I had to fix a bug. After that, another round of feedback, and to close it up, we went for a coffee where I got to meet more members of the team. They made me feel like part of the team, and I knew right then and there that I wanted to join.
The technical questions were thorough but fair, and in case I couldnt provide the answer because I didn't have experience with a specific technology yet, they gave me the expected answer, which not only gave me an understanding but also provided me with a way to show I understood the underlying concepts with analogies. The fact they keep a rigorous process even with the need to expand shows that they don't compromise on their standards and made me appreciate the offer even more. I might not have ended up with the exact job I originally applied for but I think I found the team I was looking for.
