      Strategic writer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at EAB in Aug 2023

      Interview

I was asked to complete a cognitive assessment (CCAT) before even the initial phone screen for a writing job at this company. I declined to continue the process since I wasn't sure how taking a test that included questions like, "Jack and Jill have 44 cookies together. Jack has three times more cookies than Jill. How many cookies does he have?" is a better way to assess my candidacy than looking at my resume, cover letter, and portfolio. Especially for a writing job! Also, this assessment being part of the hiring process does not make me feel confident that I'd be working with a truly diverse team if I were to continue on and get hired by EAB since these types of assessments are not equitable or fair to many types of candidates.
