Egnyte interview questions

I was an internal referral and went through a somewhat different route than usual. I was interviewed by the other senior engineers, PM and a recruitment director on video and overall had a pleasant experience discussing the minutia of scaling a large distributed application, of the software life-cycle, of caching and invalidation problems. I was impressed with the overall knowledge of the people interviewing me and that contributed to my decision to accept the offer later. Since I was interviewed remotely, I asked for an in-office visit to "feel the culture" and talk with some more employees. From watching the lunch/break room and seeing people smiling and happy (and playing board games and card games during breaks) I got a strong sense of team spirit. Note: I was warned that "coming without high energy levels" might be a problem, as this is a startup environment and not "corporate america". Since I actually wanted a place like that it I liked that statement.

Online code challenge, Recruiter Screen, Technical Screen, Onsite Interview (4 hours) The online code challenge was about reading multiple files in a directory with 10 threads. The Recruiter screen was just basic logistical questions and "Why Egnyte?" The technical screen was further questions about the code challenge and how to implement online file storage software. The onsite was four one hour interviews. This was a standard software interview, though they held it over the lunch hours and only provided me with a bag of chips to eat. I was starving the whole time. I felt the recruiter asked many inappropriate questions about where else I was interviewing. One interviewer stared at his computer the whole time and ignored me while I solved the question he gave me. The office itself was unimpressive and the employees did not seem excited to be there. To be honest, I had read some of the other Glassdoor reviews about harassment and toxic work environment and only used this interview for practice.
