Interview
Overall seems like a decent company, but the application process had so many hiccups and mistakes it was concerning. At least the recruiter was responsive, but they never seemed to own up to any of their mistakes, some as major as sending information about different jobs, different start dates, etc. Additionally, there's a lot of fluff in the hiring process and it took over a month to interview with a real person and talk to someone that wasn't the recruiter. I ended up applying and getting hired by another company in the time period I waited between interviews. I didn't really feel like me or my time were being valued by Expedia, but I guess that makes sense as they're a big company who can treat new grads as expendable. First a personality test that takes about an hour talking about the company's principles. Honestly just busy work, the recruiter even said later on in the process it was fine if people hadn't done it. Next is a HireVue screen where you're asked 3 basic questions about why Expedia and why your role, followed by 13 basic stats questions. I have a very low opinion of HireVue. There was a claim that they'll review it personally, but that breaks the purpose of HireVue in the first place. Final interview is back-to-back case study and problem solving with behavioral questions. Finally got to talk to people who actually work at Expedia during this interview. Mostly chill interviews but the case study is pretty poorly designed. Not really sure what direction they wanted with it, felt like I was just wasting my time.
