I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Expedia Group (Austin, TX) in Mar 2023
Interview
- Standard process: recruiter call, hiring manager call, virtual onsite. Interview questions were pretty easy (see below). - Somewhat disorganized process. Interacted with 4 different recruiters/HR people to schedule interviews. Still had 1 no-show on their side + another interviewer was 15 minutes late. - Got an offer below the market range. Couldn't negotiate up.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Technical questions: basic python (interpret written code and write simple functions), SQL (group by + having, pivot tables, types of joins), and stats (t-tests, z-tests, stats/math used in AB tests).
I applied online. I interviewed at Expedia Group (London, England) in Feb 2026
Interview
First technical assessment: 75 min for Hackerrank generated questions, related to business scenarios that Expedia normally would encounter. multiple SQL Qs + 2 Python Qs + Basic 101 Stats (p-value, type 1, type 2 error, CI)
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Expedia Group (Bengaluru) in Feb 2026
Interview
The interview experience was positive overall. The interviewers were understanding, supportive, and created a comfortable environment for me to share my thinking. The questions were thoughtful and relevant to the role. However, the process was significantly slower than expected — there were long gaps between rounds with little proactive communication, and I had to follow up multiple times to get updates on next steps. Faster communication between stages would greatly improve the candidate experience.
Technical phone screen and then 4 rounds of interviews that covered machine learning, coding, and soft skills. They let me know they were not going to make an offer several weeks after the interview.
