I did a two person interview first at my university. Then they offered an opportunity to join a two-day field trip, with mornings spent on the field and afternoons with exercises at the accommodations.

Smooth and easy conversation. Wasn’t like an interview, it was more like a discussion between geologists. Started with a few usual general enquiries in an interview and then proceeded with technical discussions.
