I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at FanDuel
Interview
Initial screening was simple, and then got sent a take-home challenge consisting of three parts. Their time estimate was grossly underestimated along with the fact that all their documentation and input files were word documents. Some of the input files were also improperly formatted JSON, so on top of having to extract everything from microsoft word files into raw text files, I also had to write a program to fix the formatting on these files. After this the actual work took all weekend.
After submitting, they confirmed they received it and would get back to me in 2-3 days. I was ghosted, and even sent a follow up email to them asking if they had looked at my work. The recruiter replied "should be any day now!" and was simply ghosted again.
Vidoe call with two staff, no questions asked about experience required for the job. It felt like the decision had been made before the interview started. The interview lasted less than an hour.
1 hour initial interview going over experience and the role itself with someone from the recruitment team. After that another 1 hour interview getting asked more culture and technical questions with an engineer.
