I applied online. I interviewed at Fisher Investments (Camas, WA) in Sep 2019
Interview
The interview process was very unprofessional and I got a cult-like vibe the entire time.
The process length was reasonable. I had a phone screener or two and then was assigned a case study and given a week to complete it. I was told that my in person interview would be one hour and I would present the case study to a group of people. This was NOT the case.
Only after I arrived and after I was taken on a tour of the facility did I learn that the interview length was 3 hours, not 1. I wasn't told this, rather I saw a piece of printer paper with the interview time written on it taped to the door of the room in which I was being interviewed. I had to make last second changes to childcare to accommodate Fisher's lack of communication.
I went through two rounds of interviews regarding skills that were NOT LISTED ON THE JOB POSTING...which I was woefully unprepared for. While I had experience in these areas in the past, I would have needed some refresher before interviewing and I was given no indication that I would be questioned on them.
In the third and final part of the interview I went through another series of questioning. At the end (and what seemed like an afterthought) I was allotted 10 minutes to give the presentation I spent a week working on. The interviewers didn't even seem interested in paying attention.
Fisher requires 5 10 hour days a week and offers very low pay. Employees are required to adhere to a formal business dress code even though the roles are not client facing.
My overall impression is that this is a cult-like company that's trying to pretend they're in the big leagues. They prey on young professionals who are directly out of college and have no idea what a healthy work environment is supposed to look like.
I chose not to continue the interview process any further.

Question 1
I was given a sheet of SQL problems and asked to write a query that would address the problems.
I applied online. I interviewed at Fisher Investments (San Mateo, CA) in Jul 2017
Interview
Initial phone screen. Flew out to San Mateo for an interview a week later. Was given a tour (the building was practically empty) and then interviewed for two positions online in their office. Strange to be flown out to interview online and not in person but everyone I met was genuine. Very easy interview, the positions were not exactly what I would like to do though.
