No proper phone screen before talking to hiring manager. Hiring manager was not much interested in the interview. Question were very random and majorly irrelevant to the role. He had no idea what he was looking for in the new hire.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Flatiron Health (New York, NY)
Interview
1. Initial screen with engineering manager - not direct manager or even counterparts
2. 3 2:1 interviews. Canned questions and they never really got to the heart of things. For instance, all of the questions are tactical but the role is strategic. As a result we didn’t discuss my strategic approach or anything like that. The hiring manager in particular didn’t seem enthused or even engaged in the process.
3. Recruiting - they do not discuss comp ranges before interviews and there’s no outline for the process. I pushed a bit here and was met with “I don’t know” or “we don’t do it that way.” If I don’t know the particulars then it’s really difficult to know if this is a good opportunity
All in all, it’s clear that this group doesn’t really know what they’re looking for OR it was poorly articulated.

Interview
The process was unorganized from the start. The recruiter set up a phone screening and canceled. Then another hiring manager reached out stating that I would need to complete an entire organizational plan before moving to the next round. I completed it, which took a great amount of time, and sent it in. Two weeks later I received a follow-up stating that they were behind and had not viewed my plan yet and they would get back to me as soon as possible with feedback. I followed up with a response and never heard from anyone again. This was not a good experience as I put a lot of time into the process to not receive any feedback or response.
