The recruiter had reached out to me on LinkedIn and was very enthusiastic about how good a fit I was. He said the hiring mgr was very eager to interview me. A couple of days later the interview was scheduled and I asked the recruiter what the pay range for the position was, as I would like to know before the interview. He said he didn't have that information but would have the lead recruiter call me.
The lead recruiter called me a few hrs later and the first thing he said was they were rethinking the fit. I asked him if the interview was still on and he said yes, so I told him I'd like to know what the pay range for the position was before the interview as company pay transparency was very important to me. He told me pay transparency was very important to Ford - *candidate pay transparency*. I pointed out that isn't what pay transparency means. When he repeated they have to have *candidate pay transparency*, I told him I didn't think this was going to be a good fit.
I emailed the woman who'd set up the interview and told her I was passing on the position and explained why. While I didn't mention it in the email, it's apparent the lead recruiter was willfully misusing the term pay transparency.
Then, the next day, Ford sends me a rejection letter. Go figure.
