I applied online and shortly after got an email from their internal recruiter to set up a phone interview. The internal recruiter asked me about my experiences and to describe GLG. After the phone interview, they set up a phone interview with a Senior Research Manager. This interview was a 45min call where I was asked to talk about my previous experiences, they also asked me to describe GLG and to pitch GLG to a potential council member.
After I was invited to a face to face interview with 3 senior staff. I was asked to talk about what I knew about GLG and why I wanted to work for GLG. One senior staff gave me a small case study i.e. An investment firm is looking to invest in mining but have no knowledge on a particular region. I needed to identify "experts" on the mining industry and why would I choose them.
After this round, I was invited to complete a case study from home. Two Senior Research Managers called me explaining the case study. I had one hour and a half to identify as many experts as possible and explaining why I chose them, then I emailed them my responses and they followed up very shortly with a 15min to discuss my findings. They want to understand how you proceeded with your research and why you chose them, I chose 4-5 experts which they really liked as I chose quality over quantity.
The very next day, the internal recruiter called me to invite me to the last round. This time I was interviewed by a director and with two senior staff. They asked me the same type of questions i.e. competency based questions where I needed to describe a time where a had a conflict with someone at work, how would prioritise your time if you have 5 projects at the same time etc..
Overall, it's a very repetitive process, if you are smart you will get to the final round but if your personality is not the right fit for the team then you won't get the job no matter how good you performed during your interviews.I asked about work-life balance and the answer was: "working 10-12 hours a day is the usual thing in this office" so be aware of this, I was very disappointed with this answer specially for a job that pays around £35k. Internal recruiters are very slow at getting back to you and not helpful at all.
