I applied for a role at GC via an online job portal and was contacted a week later to arrange interviews two weeks out. The process included a first round with the hiring manager, a take-home assignment, and two more rounds—technical and cross-functional—scheduled across separate days. Notably, these interviews were hastily scheduled even before I submitted the take-home assignment, hinting at a rushed process for no obvious reason.
As an iOS Developer with over 10 years of experience and numerous design awards, I was confident in my skills and received positive feedback during the live coding and interviews. However, the respect for my time and effort was starkly absent. Just 23 minutes after completing a live coding exercise, where I had performed well, I received a generic rejection email. This rapid turnaround, especially after the initial delay and subsequent rush to schedule interviews, suggests I was merely a backup option or GC had criteria for their interview that was never shared with me.
This experience, involving 6-8 hours of preparation and a half-day for interviews, only to receive a promotional-style rejection, feel like they don't care for their candidates experiences. The scheduler offered feedback, which I immediately requested, but despite two follow up emails, never heard back from them AT ALL. I advise potential candidates to carefully consider the value of their time before engaging with GC.
