      Interview

Most unprofessional interview I’ve had. In another comment below someone describes the interview process as “bizarre” and this is the best way to describe it. Makes me think it was the same location and recruiter. They were hostile and rude with me from the beginning, and I’m pretty sure they don’t know much about sales. They asked me about my early experiences more than my later, more relevant experiences (I basically do the exact same role currently and have done for 4 years), and they failed to ask me enough questions or dive deep into this at all. Instead, they asked me more in depth questions about roles I had nearly 10 years ago, and my childhood, which felt strange and irrelevant. Every time I tried to talk about how my current role is very similar to the role I'm applying for and my successes in this type of selling, they very rudely cut me off at times, diverted the conversation in irrelevant directions again, and at times didn’t understand some basic sales terminology I was using. They even went as far as telling me that Gartners products were a very hard sell and the sales team doesn’t always make sales - it doesn’t surprise me, because I don’t think the recruiter knows how to hire for it. They later gave me feedback which didn’t make sense. They wanted me to talk about numbers, previous successes, how I’ve hit targets in the past, yet during the interview, cut me off every time I tried to talk about these experiences. All in all, just a very strange, uncomfortable experience which felt like an interrogation of sorts rather than a professional interview. On top of the whole interview being poorly structured and unprofessional, they were also rude as mentioned before - it was like watching someone on a power trip, and they just demonstrated ignorance throughout. Out of the positive feedback that they gave me the one that stood out the most was that the role play was very good (which makes sense due to the nature of my current role), but later didn’t mention this at all and decided against offering me the role for reasons which I felt were again, inaccurate and irrelevant. Strange, disrespectful/rude attitude even on a personal level - not nice vibes. Upon reflection, I should have ended the call half way through the interview, and if the rest of the company is like the recruiter, not interested in working for a company like this.
