The hiring team has scant regard for the candidate's time investment. I was requested to accommodate the hiring manager's work schedule during the festive season whilst I was visiting family. Despite promises to the contrary, the talent acquisition partner took over three weeks to revert citing inability to connect with the interviewer due to competing engagements and different timezones. The final email from her didn't include any feedback on interview specifics, just a stock rejection stating they had decided to go a different direction. My interview with the hiring manager, which was supposed to be highly technical (per the HR partner) appeared to be a rehash of my resume and almost too focused on gleaning my life story rather than delving into health systems design nuances. The interviewer was more focused on my choice of universities and whether those were pedigreed enough. The conversation was neither thoughtful nor health systems development centred, as I had hoped it would be. In some cases, I found the questions somewhat patronising and rather sexist. All in all, it was a colossal waste of time. As an aside, the interviewer was rather inarticulate. I was somewhat taken aback that he referred to my varied experience of living, studying and working around the world as having a 'chequered' past (?!), which has unflattering connotations. I am not sure they intended this but was shocked to see such mediocrity helming the Foundation, and this experience has certainly diminished my estimation of it as a prospective employer.
