I got this position via a staffing agency who did a quick phone interview to pre-screen. Next step was meeting with Genentech directly. They are usually panel interviews. Mine was with the project sponsor, team leader, and one of the senior techs. The interview, and atmosphere, at Genentech is a lot more about personality and fit and how you get along with the people you will be working with. Now, I'm sure it might be quite different for the people going after biotechnical, scientific, lab-related jobs (aka involved in the process of producing Genentech's products).
