I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Genentech (San Antonio, TX) in Jan 2010
Interview
I first got a call from HR and was asked basic questions about salary, work experience, and willingness to travel. I was contacted about 3 weeks later by a hiring manager. The questions were mostly behavior based. the manager was very nice. Know the company history, values, products, and how to field priority and problem solving questions. No follow up 1:1 interviews.

I applied online. I interviewed at Genentech (Boston, MA) in Sep 2016
Interview
End of the day. Interviewers lacked energy and interest. Very pro forma.
Interviewers simply were going through the motions. One of the two yawned throughout the Q&A. The hiring Manager appeared intimidated by my age (I am of the Boomer generation).
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Genentech (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2012
Interview
Lengthy and time consuming panel interview. Too many people that could ask varying questions. Once I moved forward in the interview process I did not feel like the hiring manger used desertion for the ultimate decision.
