Conducted a screening interview with the recruiter, which went well. Was told I'd hear back that same week on if another interview was requested. About 7 days later, I had not heard anything, but was moving forward in other opportunities so I wanted to reach out and see if I was still in consideration. The recruiter said he would check and get right back to me. Didn't hear anything for another 7 days, and just got the automated rejection e-mail today.

I felt like I was dirty rushed. I applied on a Thursday morning and by that afternoon I had already received an email from a recruiter asking for an interview. I interviewed the following Monday. Things were looking up. I spoke with the recruiter and things went well. I felt very confident and thought I asked the right questions, and answered his correctly. The recruiter told me that I sounded like the perfect fit for the position and that he would definitely recommend me to the manager. At the end of the interview I asked what the next steps were and when I could expect to hear if I was moving on to the next interview or not. The recruiter told me that he wished could say by tomorrow, but if not I'd hear by that Wednesday. Wednesday rolled around and I heard nothing. I reached out that Thursday and never got a response. I gave it some more time, but then reached out again and still haven't heard anything. It's okay that I didn't get a second interview, but the professional and courteous thing to do is to tell the candidate that they are moving on with other candidates, not to ghost them.
