I had an extremely disappointing experience with the recruiting process at Genesys that I feel compelled to share after 15 years in the industry.
Timeline:
- Applied in mid-April 2024
- Received response on May 13th from recruiter stating my experience "really resonated" and I could be a "great fit"
- Recruiter emphasized urgency and requested immediate NDA signing
- Scheduled interview for May 15th based on the urgency conveyed
What Went Wrong:
The recruiter failed to attend our scheduled interview without any advance notice. After waiting 5 minutes, I had to email to inquire about the call. She responded 10 minutes later, claiming "something urgent came up" and attempted to reschedule to a time outside my availability.
When I provided alternative time slots as she requested, she confirmed she never got back to me with a new time. That was May 15th - she never responded.
I followed up professionally 2 and a half weeks later in case my email was missed. Again, no response whatsoever.
Impact:
This represents the worst first-interview candidate experience I've encountered in my 15-year career. The lack of basic professional courtesy - missing scheduled interviews, poor communication, and complete radio silence - reflects poorly on Genesys's commitment to treating candidates with respect.
Recommendation:
While Genesys may be a great company to work for, candidates should be prepared for potentially unprofessional recruiting experiences. I would recommend having backup options and not rearranging your schedule based on claimed "urgency" from their recruiting team.
The way a company treats candidates during the interview process often reflects their internal culture and values.
